Every ski complex usually offers beginner terrain and lesson programs to help get you started. But for kids, the best one is just by the corner. More than 10% of the terrain in Zakopane and near by are rated green for beginners, but there are also many more great options out there. And remember, bigger does not always mean better; smaller asking areas often feature no crowds, cheaper pricing, and a family-friendly feel.
Here are a few things to consider when choosing a mountain for beginners:
1. If skiing for the first time, check out the nearby Nosal complex with the Strama ski school program for kids. We will have all the school schedules closer to Winter. Make sure to make reservations ( for school and room) ahead of time as it gets very busy when kids out of school for Winter break.
2. Ask your friends. Have any friends or family that ski? Ask for advice on where to go. If they are really good friends, they might even offer to take you with them! Skiing for the first time alone or with other beginners can be intimidating, so don’t be afraid to ask for help! There is always a ski instructor which is a good idea even if you’re a good skier but do not know terrain.
3. Price. Plan ahead to stay within budget; no one wants to be greeted with sticker-shock at the ticket window. Lift ticket and rental prices from place to place can fluctuate depending on the time of year. Ask Greg!
